SCRIPTURES TO PRAY For victims

These are scriptures that we encourage you to pray over victims of domestic abuse or to pray over yourself if you are a victim of abuse. You can also use these scriptures to help you find answers to questions that you or others may have regarding domestic abuse.

• Deuteronomy 33:27 The eternal God is our hiding place; He carries us in his arms. When God tells you to destroy your enemies, He will make them run. (CEV)

• 2 Samuel 22:3-5 You are the rock where I am safe. You are my shield, my powerful weapon, and my place of shelter. You rescue me and keep me safe from violence. I praise You, our Lord! I prayed to You, and You rescued me from my enemies. Death, like ocean waves, surrounded me, and I was almost swallowed by its flooding waters. (CEV)

• 2 Samuel 22:18-19 He delivered me from my strong enemy, from those who hated me; for they were too strong for me. They confronted me in the day of my calamity, but the Lord was my support. (NASB)

• Psalm 9:9-10 The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a place of safety in times of trouble. Those who know You, Lord, will trust You; You do not abandon anyone who comes to You. (GNT)

• Psalm 9:12 For the one who seeks an accounting for bloodshed remembers them; he does not forget the cry of the oppressed. (CSB)

• Psalm 10:17-18 You, Lord, hear the desire of the afflicted; You encourage them and You listen to their cry, defending the fatherless and the oppressed, so that mere earthly mortals will never again strike terror. (NIV)

• Psalm 18:17-19 He rescued me from my powerful enemies, from those who hated me and were too strong for me. They attacked me at a moment when I was in distress, but the Lord supported me. He led me to a place of safety; He rescued me because He delights in me. (NLT)

• Psalm 22:24 The Lord has not despised or been disgusted with the plight of the oppressed one. He has not hidden his face from that person. The Lord heard when that oppressed person cried out to Him for help. (GWT)

• Psalm 31:20 You hide them in the secret place of Your presence from those who scheme against them. You keep them in a shelter, safe from quarrelsome tongues. (GWT)

• Psalm 56:8 You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in Your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book. (NLT)

• Psalm 57:3 He will answer from heaven and save me; He will defeat my oppressors. God will show me His constant love and faithfulness. (GNT)

• Psalm 124:2-3 What if the Lord had not been on our side when people attacked us? They would have swallowed us alive in their burning anger. (NLT)
